Dietary Supplements – Looking for a better price? You might want to think again.
(out of date, improperly stored, coatings)
Hands down, Thorne products provide the highest quality, purest, and most bioavailability of all dietary supplement companies. In order to distribute Thorne products you have to be a licensed health-care practitioner (MD, RN, ARNP, RD, Certified Nutritionist). As a licensed health-care practitioner for Thorne, I was confused why Thorne supplements are being sold on Amazon for cheap? How is the possible if they only distribute to health-care professionals? Here is their response – “We do not authorize any distribution of Thorne products via the internet except for health-care practitioners who are supplying products to their own client base via their website. Unfortunately some of these discount brokers may be buying out of date inventory and passing the product off to anyone looking for a better price. There is no guarantee that these vendors are storing the products at an optimal temperature or that their warehouses are free from rodents or insects.”
I knew there had to be a reason. You get what you pay for!
Another factor to take into consideration when purchasing supplements is their coating. Inexpensive dietary supplement companies use inexpensive coatings. For example, magnesium stearate, stearic acid and/or calcium stearate are all inexpensive coatings that reduce dissolution and inhibit absorption. In addition, cut-rate products often contain food allergens, sugar, artificial food coloring and flavoring and even possibly hazardous chemicals like cholorine.
Learn to look on a supplement’s product label for the presence of stearic acid or magnesium stearate, sugar, food allergens, and artificial colorings and flavorings.
